Here is a letter from Janet that she sent us:

Dear Joanne, Billy, Gloria and USC CASA,

I had originally wanted to make a personal Youtube video to thank you for all your efforts in registering donors recently with A3M (Asians for Miracle Matches). Unfortunately, my blood counts have dramatically decreased and my energy is quite low these days due to the side effects of chemotherapy and many oral medications. I didn’t want you to see my unenthusiastic, pale face akin to the likes of a vampire. Still, I wanted to thank you for offering to host a three-day drive at the USC campus.  That is incredible, because quite honestly even one donor could have made all the difference for me and other patients suffering from life-threatening blood diseases.

In particular, this drive was very special, because you chose to help a UCLA student (enemy Bruin), even though I know you are all proud Trojans! That says a lot about your character and your generosity to help even along bitter, ruthless crosstown rivalries. This makes it hard for me to continue to refer to you guys in code name as I’ve always muttered “mustard and ketchup” whenever I saw a USC student in the backyards of Westwood. With all this silliness aside, you came together for me because it was a time of need regardless of school affiliations and powerful allegiances. We share a proud Chinese heritage together and above all else, we share the willingness to be human with one another.

So I thank you USC CASA for all that you’ve done for me. There are no words to describe how I feel except happiness, appreciation, and gratitude — feelings that allow me to get through the difficult days ahead with the fight against aggressive leukemia, which I’ve nicknamed “Mr. Luke”. I hope you can return to your families after studying so hard with lots of hearty dim sum and home-cooked family meals.

Happy Thanksgiving, because I’m thankful for you.

hello hello! This past Wednesday was CASA’s 6th GM. We met up at PED building at 6:15 with a total of 40+ CASA members and took some pictures for this year’s yearbook. LOOK OUT FOR CASA IN THE YEARBOOK, YOU CASA SENIORS!

Afterwards, we headed out to WAWA’s for some karoakinggggg. We had two rooms going and everyone had lots of fun. I was in the big room and towards the end, basically everyone moved up to the front to sing or clap or just enjoy each other’s company. Here are some pictures!

And then a few of us *ahem* decided to let our hair down and go a little crazy…

Overall, it was an awesome night. Thanks for all of you guys who came out ^^ WE LOVE YOU!

whew, what a hectic past few weeks. Midterms, papers, exams etc… Hope everyone’s still surviving the turmoils of halfway point of the semester. I know I almost died the past two weeks.

So catching up on what’s been going on with CASA…

The Berkeley Game weekend, CASA went up to San Fran with a coach bus of about 50 kids. SIX HOUR DRIVE ROADTRIP! We played games, watched movies, and the highlight of the weekend, i personally think, is the assassin’s game. Props to pfeeeeszy for planning it!

Moving on, we saw a gold man in downtown san fran, and he was FREAKING NEKKIDDDD! AHH! Anyway, lots of things were going on, for example LovEvolution, the game, etc… For those of us without tickets, we went to Fisherman’s Wharf, Union Square and Golden Gate Bridge. It was an awesome weekend spent with CASA (:

So as the week flies by, last weekend, CASA board + alumni had a football game somewhere in Monterey Park. Those alumni are hardcore man. CASA board went with their cute hoodies and all dressed up for a nice day out, and the alumn came decked out in high knee socks, sweat wristbands. CRAZYYYY.

This past week had been rainy, and CASA hosted our 4th GM: DUMPLINGS NIGHT + MAHJONG at troy hall. It was nice to spend a cozy and warm night with CASA eating self-made/cooked dumplings.

Eyo wsup casaaa! what a fiiiine monday afternoon.

So recap this past week, Friday was the APASA tournament of champions and Saturday was the gameeee! thanks to those that came out to either event or both. You guys can testify how fun it was, right?

On Friday, CASA won 2nd place for Tug-O-War and we even made the Daily Trojans Towards the end, our beloved Paul, Jason and Benson had the ingenious idea of the Jump Rope Challenge and we stole the thunder from APASA. our bad, but mad props to those three.And also, check out APASA’s sexy panda, how sick is that?

On Saturday, we tailgated for almost 5 hours! Mad USC pride right thurrr. We had hotdogs, burgers, & beer Thanks to alumni who came and showed support, and also those who contributed beer.

Overall, it was great. What a fun weekend with CASA (:

ANYWAYS. What’s cookin, good lookin CASA blog readers!

Wednesday (yesterday) was the 2nd CASA GM. Thanks to all you guys who came out. The numbers were FLYIN` there were at least 100 people who showed and we appreciate it. Those who came, hope you had fun. Those who didn’t, you missed out. But it’s okay, we have many more GM’s and events to come!

So we chilled in THH101 for a while, family union (not REunion, ’cause most of us only met for the first time), made family chants and went for KBBQ. We had only reserved for about 45 people, but we definitely had more. Knowing Asian places, it’s never big enough to fit all of us…(and we wonder why there’s overpopulation in China lol). Luckily, there was another kbbq restaurant 20 steps away and so about 30 people went there. We even got the special rooms goin on. It was cozy and sweet, until the vent stopped working…then we just couldn’t breathe. But s’all good, kids. S’all good.

As if that wasn’t a long time already spent with CASA, many people just couldn’t get enough of us. So lots of people went to Yogurtland afterwards to stuff their stomaches even more. Oh think of those poor starving African kids…haha just kidding.

Overall everyone had a good time.

And that’s CASA for you.

Yo west coast whats crackinnn`

So this past weekend, CASA decided to have a car wash fundraiser. But guess what happened? We got PWNED by the gangsters of South Central.

We were just innocently holding up car wash signs on Jefferson and this African American lady approached Sam and told her that we were stealing customers away from her business, that she’s in a gang and that if we don’t shut it down, they’ll “do something” about it. We called DPS (who we think are overpaid, by the way), and they told us that everything is okay and we should continue our endeavors. Basically, board made an executive decision to end the car wash and postpone it for another time because we didn’t want to endanger our beloved board members and Zetas (we borrowed their house).

After relocating to City Park, we had several boxes of donuts that we were planning to give out to the customers. However, as Chinese Americans, we think on our feet and decided to HAVE A DONUT SALE!

The day was well spent. Good bonding times, board!
